This whimsical mural depicts an open book that is erupting with knowledge in the form of Berkeley themed iconography as well as some scholarly dogs and cats. The message being a simple reminder of the joy of reading a book. A positive universal message that is fitting in this location across from Berkeley City College and is in close proximity to many other notable educational institutions.
The image is fun, dynamic, and also gives the viewer plenty of details to relate to and allow for a moment of personal connection and discovery. The colors where chosen to fit in with the rest of building while acting as a lively and unexpected pop of color.
